Blockchain Implementation Process Model for Supply Chains - From Technology Awareness to Scaling

Abstract

This contribution proposes a new blockchain implementation process model which closes identified gaps of existing models such as the lack of supply chain management focus, guidance on scaling or performance measurement. In particular, existing models do not provide a sufficiently detailed approach. To prove this, we develop criteria for a blockchain implementation process model in supply chains and systematically compare existing process models in this context. In order to identify a suitable use case for companies, to plan its implementation and to measure its impact on the company performance, we develop a new implementation process model. Furthermore, this process model supports the roll-out of the blockchain use case to other partners along the value chain, thereby increasing scalability.
