Abstract

The supply-chain process involves multiple actors and intermediary companies that need to coordinate but often lack interoperability and do not fully trust each other. Supply-chain digitalization, including the use of cloud services and domain-specific standards, enables significant improvements in efficiency throughout the entire process. We conduct a case study by collecting and analyzing data from a large business consortium represented by experts in the fields of industry, logistics, banking, and information and communications technology (ICT). Based on the case study’s outcomes, we propose the architecture of a blockchain-based system for use in a practical intermodal logistics project and discuss future research directions regarding it.
