Abstract

Digital urbanism is described as an emergent understanding of city administration shaped by the influx and pervasiveness of information and communication technologies. This description covers three aspects of Information and Communication Technology, Pervasive Computing and City Administration driven by social organs. This paper has observed the aggregate use of computing technologies linked to social organs of cities through a digital transformation. International cities, have benefitted from the use of such computing technologies in resolving social problems, understanding different models of its implementation. However, for Indian cities where social problems are aplenty, use of such technologies has its intuitive experiences. Further, while past literature on digitally urbanized global cities relies primarily on technology dimensions of radministration, this is found wanting in Indian context. Our paper focuses on bringing out pertinent aspects of computing technologies across India and international cities, observing how these technologies are linked to social organs of city administration.
